I disagree completely with that assessment. While using a system that truely weighted the mail like Declude does is certainly a "better" solution I think that with the proper tweaks IMail's "free" system is quite effective.
I think what he was trying to say goes along with what you are saying -- IMail v8's anti-spam can get the job done, but it may require a fair bit of tweaking depending on your needs. It certainly is far ahead of IMail v6 (which had a quote "Stopped the spam dead cold!" on the box, despite its almost complete lack of anti-spam tools), and can do quite a bit -- but still lacks some of the tools and automation for it to be considered a solution rather than a tool.
The general consensus seems to be that people with the time or desire use IMail v8's anti-spam, whereas others will look at other programs (such as Declude) to assist them.
