Well, I'd rather have 10K+ domains in a b-tree indexed db than 10K+ in
an unindexed text file!

As  Darin  noted,  the resource consumption is not really relevant. If
anything,  the production resource utilization will be _lower_ than if
everything else were constant save for plain-text storage.
