The VisNetic looks good as seen on the Deerfield site. We use their GroupMail for our subscriber newsletter and pleased. I am going to check out Merak too. Does anyone else on list have experience or knowledge of either of these products? Can the repackaging of Merak be confirmed?

There's also another alternative that a friend in Jersey has been using
with
many municipalities and schools with VERY good luck.

FYI...This was pointed out to me as being a repackaged Merek mail system.
So if you like it...check out Merak too.
http://www.merakmailserver.com/Products/Merak_Mail_Server/

and check out their webmail demo at:
http://demo.merakmailserver.com/login.html

Btw, smartermail has a webdemo too:
http://maildemo.smartertools.com/Login.aspx

which doesn't seem to work too well on a 24k dial-up connection but works
well with broadband. I mention the dial-up because many of our warehouses
across the USA are still using dial-up to access the internet. I tested it
with a modem(24k) and every time I clicked on a message the screen went
solid blue for a five count before refilling then showing the message.
Strange. Merek webmail was much better on that slow connection.

Includes calendaring and instant messaging for a LOT less month that
Ip$witch wants for their new bundled product. Any of the features can be
enabled and disabled on a domain-by-domain basis.

Also includes CHALLANGE MESSAGE, sending a message back to a person the
first time they send a message to someone who's e-mail is hosted on the
domain. Once they respond to the challenge message, they are auto-added
to
the white list. This can be disabled or enabled on a per user, per domain
basis.

Free 30 day trial. It's on my list, along with SmarterMail, to check out.
