Martin,

Blackice blocked over 28,000 IPs in the last month.

I don't think manually adding IPs to your firewall
will make a dent in things.

Blackice can be installed and configured in about 30
minutes. It's not a perfect solution but for the
price and the investment in time you can resolve a lot
of problems very quickly and easily. Blackice also
catches things like URL spoofing in inbound emails.

We use it to supplement our firewall. They perform
different functions. Our firewall doesn't offer
anything that would protect against dictionary
attacks.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for the several tips. ImGate and BlackICe
are not the solution i like or i
need:

- ImGate is bound to IMail and runs on separate
Linux-Box.
- We do not need an additional FireWall like BlackICE.

So, i started to add IP-Adresses to the blacklist of
our SonicWall. I will call "biological dictionary
attack prevention" and this game will be a never
ending and boring story, i guess ;-)
