I  disagree.  When all you know is "our server does not do defragging"
and  "we're  running  an  array,"  you  do not have the information to
conclude  that  the local configuation is appropriate, with or without
an additional front-end MTA. Any MTA, be it Postfix, MS SMTP w/ORF, or
otherwise, will give back a lot of CPU and disk to the mailbox server,
but,  IME, it's irresponsible on both ends to conclude that that's all
that bears attention.
