All,

I am not sure how on-topic this is, but would appreciate your feedback. Has
anyone out there had any significant experience with a company called Plaxo?
I am always getting these e-mails from various domains that actually
originate from Plaxo.Com. I checked out their website, and they purport to
be a legit business that allows people to share contact information in the
form of online vCards.

The thing is, out of the dozens of e-mails I have received from alleged
Plaxo subscribers, I have never once gotten one from someone I actually
knew, or had any business with whatsoever. Their e-mails usually start out
something like, "Hi again, I noticed that I didn't get a response from my
last email to you. I'm using a new tool called Plaxo to update my address
book." However, I have no clue who these various individuals are, and am
wondering if this whole thing isn't just some giant phishing scam.

Should I start rejecting these things? Do they actually have any legitimate
users? Any idea if the company itself may be running a phishing scam, or if
they just have tons of subscribers who are abusing it? I noticed on their
website that they just signed some sort of marketing deal with a handful of
companies, most of whom I have never heard of. The one I had heard of has
long been on my blacklist for being a notorious spammer. Would appreciate
your feedback.
