Uh...apples and oranges... F-prot is not an anti-phishing product. Evidently Clam has that feature. Since F-Prot does not, it shouldn't be compared to Clam in that category.
Whether you factor in the phish hits or not, ClamAV stands up very nicely to
any other virus scanner. Also, many of the major commericial virus vendors
are starting to scan for phishing attempts. Of the virus scanners we run,
TrendMicro and McAfee, in addition to ClamAV, also block phishing e-mails
and links to phishing sites.
Finally, ClamAV is very well supported by the open-source community and their track-record on virus updates is at least as good as any of the commercial vendors, and I would even venture to say that they are actually better than most (at least as compared to the products we have tested it against: TrendMicro, McAfee, F-Prot, AVG, and BitDefender).

I support your position. ClamAV is an excellent product with a very capable and attentive following. It DOES catch viruses that others don't - I've seen it myself in the logs.
I whole-heartedly recommend it.
