Then check her machine for other software that maybe be blocking SMTP…AV software is notorious for this.

Hi,

The customer is receiving the error, but it does not prompt for username and password, and she can receive her mail, just not send - so it doesn't seem to be a login issue.

She can telnet to our mail server fine.

Does she have the right username and password combo?  For instance, if it’s a virtual host, username = [EMAIL PROTECTED].  And are you receiving that error or is she?  Is RR blocking port 25?  Cans he telnet from her machine to port 25 on the Imail server?

Subject: [IMail Forum] 550 not local host, but smtp authentication is enabled

Hi,

We have a customer who is connecting to our IMail server via Outlook 2003, and I have verified that SMTP authentication is checked, but she is still getting the 550 not local host, not a gateway error.  She says it has been happening for a few days now and her ISP is roadrunner in NY.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Michele
