No misunderstanding, I currently run and administer PHP on 3 IIS web servers and 1 Apache webserver connecting to a variety of SQL flavors. My preference is for simplicity. Imail is a Windows only program. Any version of Windows since 2000 includes IIS and ASP. It is not a matter of "will it run" it is a matter of one more point of failure. I am not against a PHP implementation, and such would not deter me from running Imail, but Imail can't set up PHP for me (here I disagree with you. If PHP is already installed and configured the way I want it, Imail mucking with it COULD screw the pooch for me). Imail can't upgrade PHP for me. Imail can't get that ***** mcrypt extension to work for me. Not that it is difficult, but it is just something else I have to do. We have been running PHP for a couple of years, and while it is getting better, it is certainly not maintenance-free.
