It  doesn't  have  to;  it's the SMTP sending process that uses domain
literals  (Adriel, that's the term for addresses with square-bracketed
IPs  instead of domains) to connect to the peer. It substitutes domain
literals  for  the  original  domain  as  it  goes  from peer to peer,
checking for a valid user.

I don't think that's relevant to peering in 8.05.

I  actually  think  we're  getting  closer to the root cause here: the
Exchange server (more properly, the IIS SMTP service) is not accepting
mail  to  domain  literals.  This'll require a metabase tweak. I'll be
happy to do it remotely; Adriel, contact me off-list.
