Imail attachment blocking is a poor way of blocking viruses. A virus scanner should be used to make the determinitation if there is a virus within the zip and remove the infected part of the zip. If the zip is encrypted it can remove the whole zip.
We block executable binary attachments and scripts but we scan zip files for viruses before blocking and if they are encrypted we delete them. The usefullness of compressed files with email is too great to just outright block them.
