Are you really using UW ipop3d? ipop3d is identical to imapd internally.
If imapd moves the file to a location where ipop3d can not find it, the
you are running a version of ipop3d that is built differently from the
version of imapd.
The correct solution in that case is to rebuild both imapd and ipop3d, and
use the binaries from the same build. If your imapd/ipop3d binaries came
from a third party, it may have modifications of unknown nature and
equally unknown (lack of) quality.
I recommend that you get the unmodified source code directly from UW:
ftp://ftp.cac.washington.edu/mail/imap.tar.Z
Also, please delete any /etc/c-client.cf file that may be on your system.
As far as stopping messages from being moved, it depends upon what file
name that the messages are being moved to. The name is probably one of
mbox, mail.txt, INBOX, or INBOX.MTX. Which one is it?
