Out current setup is uw-imapd , squirrel-mail and ipop3d.
Problem is when user looks at messages with SquirrelMail ,
then uw-imapd moves messages to ~[user]/ home directory,
and those messages cannot be downloaded via pop.

Are you really using UW ipop3d? ipop3d is identical to imapd internally.
yep....it all came from debian.

If imapd moves the file to a location where ipop3d can not find it, the you are running a version of ipop3d that is built differently from the version of imapd.

The correct solution in that case is to rebuild both imapd and ipop3d, and use the binaries from the same build. If your imapd/ipop3d binaries came from a third party, it may have modifications of unknown nature and equally unknown (lack of) quality.
I cannot build anything....if I do that....i will lack support for apt-get update/upgrade from debian update system.

As far as stopping messages from being moved, it depends upon what file name that the messages are being moved to. The name is probably one of mbox, mail.txt, INBOX, or INBOX.MTX. Which one is it?
INBOX

Isn't there any config file that I can setup to do that stuff.....doing recompile is almost heretic thing to do....there are config file for sofware:))))))

tnx.
