But since there will be only one imap-server on a mail-server machine, all 
MUAs will have to go through that imap-server. It would appear, therefore, 
that the imap-server could block re-scans during message flag modifications. 
(I haven't reed the imap RFCs, so this might well have implications I haven't 
thought about.)

In any case, being able to drag and drop deep directory structures (as seem 
from the user's point of view) would be an extremely useful fearure. Mail 
users are accustomed to been able to drag and drop entire trees locally and 
explaining why they cannot do the same on "the new mailserver" will not be 
easy.
