You're fortunate in San Francisco to have both the NextBus data, and the MTC stop identifiers. That in theory gives a nice primary key for data matching, and a higher than average data quality given the demands of the NextBus system.
Unfortunately the data already in OSM for San Francisco does not seem to have MTC stop identifiers, nor does it seem particularly complete. As such the best project would be a joint one with OSM transit geeks: importing the base data onto which your Lighthouse data would easily fit. A definite starting point is: https://www.sfmta.com/about-sfmta/reports/gtfs-transit-data As for maintenance, the important part is getting the data used. If the blind/low vision community starts using the data, and it's mostly useful, there is a natural constituency to keep the data maintained. If nobody cares enough to use the data, it will just rot in place if moved to OSM.
