Re-sending this message, as I didn't see it post to the list last
week. Thanks for any further help you all can impart.

Subject: Re: [Imports-us] Uploading transit data points

This is valuable information. I'll add comments where I can below,
using "SB" to indicate where my comments begin.
First however, I'll pose another question. It sounds like similar data
already lives in the OSM db. If that's an accurate statement, would it
in fact be easier to add a couple details to the existing data? For
example, "features" is invaluable to the blind traveler, as it tells
them whether the bus is stopping on the near or far side of the
intersection, whether the stop is at a corner, midblock, or island,
etc. Also, "direction" is critical as it indicates inbound or
outbound. If that's already being clearly stated in the data, great,
but it is helpful for the blind/visually impaired traveler.

My comments below.

sb: initially the data collectors used numbers found on the
nextbus.com site, but then discovered that Muni had a different set of
numbers. Therefore, it was decided to leave this at zero. It's not a
critical concern. >

sb: As mentioned above, this is a vital piece to include in either our
data upload, or by modifying existing data. Which do you all think is
easiest?>

sb: Without this detail, how does one identify whether the bus is
traveling inbound or outbound? Apologies for my ignorance on
this--again, I'm very much the novice in this realm. >

sb: fine, it can be omitted for our purposes.>
