I don't know what you want to "work around". If your survey has
determined the construction details of a water source and you want to
record that and there's no suitable tag in existence, invent one - for
example "water_source:type=deep_borehole" or something. (Not saying this
particular tag is a great idea, just giving an example.)
This will allow you to record the information. It will not show on the
OSM map like a name tag would, but that is in purpose; if you want to
"work around" the rule in a way that somehow makes "deep_borehole"
appear written on the map, then such a workaround would not be tolerated.
