Hi. Yes it is very true. First try to diagnose the problem / quick fixes from your side, and if it is not helping out then only u can call Apple toll free or visit ur nearest Apple Authorized Service Center.
Also, try these steps before approaching apple. 1- Type "Disk Utility" in spotlight. 2- Select ur Macintosh HDD. 3- Go to First Aid Tab. 4- Finally, select Repair Permission. This utility may take some time, depending upon ur data. After repair permission is over, Restart ur machine.
