Hi Roshin, Although 2 GB is the minimum RAM needed, upgrade to 4 GB and install Lion. Snow Leopard is not available for purchase anyway. To confirm if your hardware is support refer to this page. Some machines have display cards that are not supported.

Data should restore fine, but I've heard that it slows down the system. Don't have any personal experience on the same. Email should upgrade without a problem. Presently it runs on Mac OS X version 10.5.8 ( Leopard ). The system has become very slow. I am looking for a fresh installation of the new OS and I would like to get expert opinion on picking the right OS for my hardware. Which OS should I upgrade to ? Snow Leopard / Lion Will the latest OS 'Lion' run on this hardware ? I would like to have some advice on this. Restoration of Files/Folders I have a Time Machine backup on a WD external Hard Drive. I just wanted to know if restoration of Files/folders into the new OS is a hassle free process. I just hope my documents, desktop etc falls in the right place. Restoration of email backup I am sure Time Machine is smart enough to drop my emails in the right place for the new OS. Just wanted to check if any of you have found any issues here. Applications and Settings Can anyone tell me how Time Machine handles the installed applications and its settings ? If I am restoring apps into a new OS, wouldn't there be compatibility issues ? Is it safer NOT to restore Applications and just go for a reinstallation of applications ? Your suggestions will help me proceed with this. Thank you.
