hi roshni

create a new user in your current macbook, it should definitely speeden things 
up without you doing any major upgrades. just transfer your files manually what 
u think are necessary. for other files, u can always get them by logging into 
your current user account. no harm trying it before u decide to upgrade your os 
or hardware.
