Does the WIFI router give DHCP ip addresses?
What's your IP address? Is it 169.254.x.x? If yes, then you aren't getting an
IP from the DHCP server or the DHCP service is not enabled and you'll have to
configure your IP address manually depending on the way the WIFI router is
configured.

Hi!
I have a Macbook running OS 10.6.8, and I need to connect it to the wi-fi
network here at my parents house. It is a BSNL broadband connection with a ZTE
modem/router. My mac connects to the network, but is not able to connect to the
Internet.

The network has no security password, I'm using MAC filtering instead to
prevent misuse. I believe it is an always-on connection. The main desktop runs
Ubuntu.

How can I solve this? (I seem to be having a similar issue with my new HTC
One-V, which connects to the network but not to the Internet).

Thanks for any answers.
