Are the 'non-sun' part of the community going to come to the party first and actually have a working OpenSolaris project for an alternative desktop? If Sun are not providing the development work because their resources are tied to Gnome, then who is going to step up show us an alternative that works and has the same level of support and features that Gnome on Solaris has. If you want an alternative then first either join and contribute to an existing OpenSolaris desktop project, or propose and support a new project. If you want to start from scratch you will also need to provide a list of requirements that the alternative desktop has to satisfy like - * Does is meet Accessibility requirements * Does it support other languages other than English. How many different languages * Does it support Solaris Trusted Extensions * Does it have support for Solaris-only features etc etc etc Doug _______________________________________________ indiana-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/indiana-discuss
