This is common understanding to many in the community. However the
best out there is GNOME and KDE. Creating an all new GUI environment +
tools requires lots of manpower + $$. Unless Apple gives away Aqua, we
simply have to use the (good) stuff that we get from Gnome/KDE. One
way to integrate technologies to solaris is to build GUI interfaces
into G/K, and AFAIK guys in the community are doing this with GNOME
and ZFS.

So, in short, unless you can convince top management in SUN to hire
away *cough*Apple*cough* UI engineers to build a brand new desktop
enviornment, we have to go with G/K
