I was able to open this file with Staroffice 8, but it came with a link
to a warning:

What you probably experiencing is the failure of mimetypes in Firefox.
Try upgrading to firefox 3.0.2. If that doesn't work go to Edit -
Preferences - Applications. There should be a long list of filetypes.
Try to edit it there. If that doesn't work, try, closing firefox, then
renaming the file
.../home-dir/.mozilla/firefox/profile-dir.default/mimeTypes.rdf to
.../home-dir/.mozilla/firefox/profile-dir.default/mimeTypes.rdf.out.
Restart firefox, it should recreate the file mimeTypes.rdf. Click on
the ODF filetype and see if it works now.
