BSI Flora gives one syn. for Aegle marmelos as
Crateva marmelos.
Nakshatra van was written by ancient Indian scholars and later on people are
trying to fit in botanically correct plants for sanskrit names of Indian
trees.
Even Nighantu an Encyclopedia on ayurvedic medicinal plants also mentioned
old sanskrit names for the trees. The knowledge was transferred from one
generation to other but there were gaps and finding exact palnts now is a
big task. Some experts have done it to a large extent but still a lot can be
done.
