Dear Dr. Phadke, The ficus tree was the only one we sighted at Hulekal. We could see six hornbill family groups in the locality - While some of them flew over the tree canopies with distinctive loud calls, few of them were feeding silently on the riped fruits. (The largest flock which flew from a tree to another had nine of them.) I believe the hornbill population is an indicator of a good number of such fruiting trees in the sorroundings. Hornbills help in seed dispersal too.
