Dear friends
The State of Jammu & Kashmir is facing worst flood situation in last 60
years. When we were small children water had entered the vast ground (where
now we have Stadium and Iqbal Garden) and almost entered our houses. This
time situation is much worse with water level reaching more than 12 feet in
many parts of Kashmir valley. As most old houses in the valley have kucha
bricks (unburnt raw bricks) the chances of collapsing are real. My elder
brother, bhabhi and Elder bhabi who are living in Srinagar had to shift to
a nearby pucca house where more than 20 people have taken shelter with
practically no food an water supply, phones dead and mobiles discharged
because of disruption of electricity.
I am also worried about two of our members Prof. Abid Hussain Munshi
and Dr. Anzar Kharoo and other friends in Kashmir. Any news about their
welfare would be great relief. May be some one has update. We get very few
news here in California, except messages from Relatives in India.
