Forwarding again for Id confirmation or otherwise please. Some earlier relevant feedback: More likely Salvia greggii Dr. Gurcharan Singh Many thanks for your reply. Based on the long exserted stamens and style, I had thought S.coccinea. The leaves and flowers also seem to match other descs. of coccinea as in Queensland AU Weeds <http://keyserver.lucidcentral.org/weeds/data/03030800-0b07-490a-8d04-0605030c0f01/media/Html/Salvia_coccinea.htm> These plants are rather slender and herbaceous. I dont find a description of S.greggi, but the images online show flowers with stamens just exserted or included. thanks ASinha

To: [email protected] These Salvias are growing wild in a storm drain, in Bangalore. In addition to the 2 stamens seen, there are two more short ones with undeveloped anthers (staminodes?) Are they a known species or a garden cultivar escaped ? Maybe S.coccinea. Last I spotted this plant , also wild , was near the same region almost 6 years back ASinha <https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-QHVA_0IpzQY/VFIvkTa1OJI/AAAAAAAAAXc/ND797KA-Vb8/s1600/DSC01302-B.JPG> <https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-mCG-XBL7yuU/VFIv0FOWEsI/AAAAAAAAAXs/sDJ4kYLrMv8/s1600/DSC01187-B.JPG> <https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-4ZHRqMHkeW8/VFIvw8zBeRI/AAAAAAAAAXk/AtIuMWlIXUw/s1600/DSC01176-B.jpg> -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "efloraofindia" group.
