Garg ji and all, We have tremendous data on Indian flora, embedded in the form of numerous discussion threads on eFI forum. We need to consolidate these valuable data, simplify it, update and make available to the public in an user-friendly form. In order to do this effectively, we need to have a standard "design" for species, genera and family pages. So, I feel that we should not hurry in doing the present activity before having a proper plan. This is crucial because every action has to be replicated to thousands of pages and we cannot 'undo' or 'redo' changes (in structure/design) so easily. We need to discuss and decide on how we want to go about. It should be based on a consensus from all moderators, experts in various fields and we can also get opinion from experts outside of eFI, if necessary.
As part of this idea, I proposed a design for efloraofindia as early as 2011. Please search email subject "Design of efloraindia" dated 11/27/11 (addressed to then moderators). I also started the idea of 'inserting pictures' by links to original posts in the webpages, with inspiration and help from Dinesh Ji, and prepared photo plate for Menispermaceae <https://sites.google.com/site/efloraofindia/species/m---z/m/menispermaceae>, as a model. I also proposed a format for text "Canscora <https://sites.google.com/site/efloraofindia/species/a---l/g/gentianaceae/canscora>", which several moderators have agreed upon to follow this as a model with regard to the content structure. I strongly suggest to have a simple, updated content, without conflicting (taxonomically) or confusing information from other online sources. Since the forum is searchable, there is no need to duplicate the content in eFI webpages, especially without a uniform structure. I have been insisting this since beginning and we have discussed this several times among the moderators. By saying this, I don't mean/intend to curb the enthusiasm or slow down the activity.
