Dear members
It has often been felt that knowing the family name of a plant helps a lot
in further understanding of the plants that are uploaded by different
members. Whereas it may not always be possible to know the family name for
photographs meant for ID (although many of us often indicate family name or
genus name, if we know it), the members sharing already identified plants
mostly know the name of the family. They are requested to indicate the name
of the family and any additional information that they find convenient to
share. With large majority of our members being nonbotanists, such
information will be very useful for most members. It may also help in
further discussion on the plant.
It would be convenient and useful for all if the family name supplied
is in accordance with APG III, followed in all major databases such as
GRIN, The Plant List, Wikipedia, TROPICOS, etc. This will avoid any
contradictions.
