I think most of us who can identify the plant through already knowing the
plant/keys in floras/field guides/websites would easily know the family in
the process. This can also be known from reputed databases GRIN/The Plant
List/Wikipedia/IPNI.
  Those members who may have identified the plant but not sure about the
family can surely add request for some other member to add the family name.
The aim is to make our database as complete as possible, and at the same
time make things easier for non-botanist members.
