Dear Colleagues, [with apologies for cross-posting]

I am pleased to announce the fourth edition of the Eurasia Summer Academy –
Vienna Summer School on the Cultural and Intellectual History of Asia, which
will take place in Vienna, Austria, from July 7 to July 12, 2025.

Organized by the “Institute for the Cultural and Intellectual History of Asia”
(Austrian Academy of Sciences, https://www.oeaw.ac.at/ikga), in collaboration
with the “Department of South Asian, Tibetan, and Buddhist Studies”
(https://stb.univie.ac.at <https://stb.univie.ac.athttps//stb.univie.ac.at>) at
the University of Vienna, this event is part of the Cluster of Excellence
initiative Eurasian Transformations
(https://www.oeaw.ac.at/eurasian-transformations).

This year’s theme, Language as a Philosophical and Religious Tool in South
Asia, will provide an engaging exploration of the role of language in South
Asian philosophical and religious traditions. Participants will have the
opportunity to deepen their understanding of this topic, through close
engagement with original texts. We encourage you to share this announcement
with undergraduate and graduate students who have a strong interest in South
Asian linguistic and philosophical traditions, as well as intermediate to
advanced proficiency in śāstric Sanskrit.

The Summer School also offers participants the opportunity to earn ECTS credits.

Due to the intensive nature of the program, enrollment is limited to 15
participants. The application deadline is set for May 15, 2025; however, we
strongly recommend early submissions, particularly for international applicants
who may require a visa to enter the European Union.
