You get a lot of other things from many suppliers which work together
just fine.  I don't worry that one vendor's ftp won't work with
another's ftpd, or that I might have trouble NFS mounting between two
arbitrary platforms.  I suspect you don't, either.

Of course, this depends on easily available open standards and
reference implementations.  This has never been the case for AFS, and
to my knowledge, neither is available for DFS yet, either.  (I'd love
to have someone prove me wrong with URL, though :-).
