I once got 3.2a working on an HP 300 diskless cluster fileserver, but
that's quite a while ago. It did not work well.
I don't think AFS combines will with the diskless code in the kernel.
What you can do is set up another machine as the fileserver, and mount
AFS on the diskless cluster using the AFS to NFS translator.
