The AFS backup isn't automated.  We use the AFS backup system, which is
manned by operators, to automate the backup of other non-AFS servers,
like our Sybase databases.

We use cron to activate a Sybase database dump to a Unix file.  In a
second step, we tar the dump to an AFS volume that is marked for daily
backup.
