We currently have a 4mm tape drive on each of our 12 FileServers.
They aren't the fastest things on the planet, but of course, we
can have 12 backups going at once. Our experiments with using
a backup machine with DLT on the ring were (so far anyway) not
impressive.
At this point, it seems more reasonable to put a $5K DLT stacker
on each machine ($60K) to me than to put 4-6 DLT stackers ($20-30K)
on a $40-50K backup machine. ?
What are others doing/thinking?
