AFS *could* use those records, in principle, but it doesn't now.  (AFS
uses subtype 1; DCE uses subtype 2.)  DCE uses them now.  To get AFS to
use them would require the cache manager to make DNS requests to find
vlservers for given cell names, and that simply hasn't been done.  Among
the difficult things is deciding whether to put DNS lookups in the
kernel (double-yuk) or call out from the kernel to some user-space
process....
