At one time there were concerns about whether very large groups could be
replicated within the time limits required by ubik. This may or may not still
be an issue, but our (the University of Michigan) solution was to allow groups
to be members of other groups, so that our very large groups could be broken
down into a number of smaller subgroups (possible to several levels). I'm
actually not sure whether Transarc has done this either, but saying things that
aren't true any more usually helps get a response :-).
