Yes, all our fileservers are serving over 155 Mbps ATM
via fibre using "classic IP" on AIX 4.3.1 with AFS 3.4a.
Our database servers are on 16 Mpbs token ring (TR).
Nearly all clients are on token ring.

It was simpler to leave the DB servers with their old
TR based IP addresses than move to ATM. Also, I believe
DB server network traffic is "lighter" than fileserver
network traffic. So, TR seems appropriate for DB servers.

There were some initial teething problems
when ATM was introduced as the campus backbone
but today it is working very well.

ATM is fast!
