About a month ago we installed AFS on our network and a week ago
I came up with the idea of attempting to learn how to backup under
AFS. No one here has a clue how to do the backups. I got out the
trusty AFS manual and started at how to set up a machine for backup.
I did the ever so fun fms command that took the suggested several (26)
hours to complete. Then I went on to running a interactive session
of backup and after a minute or two of waiting it came back with:

udbClientInit: server or network not responding : can't establish instance Id
backup: server or network not responding ; Can't connect to database
backup: server or network not responding ; Couldn't initialize VLDB library

I ran backup on the one file server that we have, we are a small, but
nice little network, and it is running afsd. It gives this same error
no matter how I am authenticated and I am logged into the machine as
root. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do to get it to
run or where to look? Thanks ahead of time.
