We do exactly that all the time. (It's the primary method that clients get
to ileaf -- there are a few where it's installed locally; and thousands
where it isn't.) We didn't have any problems like this -- but the code is
all set to system:anyuser rl.
I'd try changing your acl to system:anyuser and see what happens...
We only run it on Risc/6000's; and that happens to match what the servers
are, if that turns out to be relevant. We're now using 5.3.1, although
we've been doing this since v4. We now use network licenses.
