No one seems to have answered which one is the best to use. My answer is the MIT libraries with the .krb programs. The reason for this is that normally the only authentication information an AFS cache manager has is your AFS ticket. In order to setup a service without the .krb programs you have to place the AFS ticket on each service. If that is compromised your whole cell is compromised.
