[Background note: my research group uses AFS, but only within the
 group.]

My university is engaged in a massive information technology planning
exercise at the moment and we are looking at many ways to move forward
and enhance interworking and cooperation throughout the campus.

One idea that has come up a number of times is a single coherent file
system view (or AFS to me :-). However, we have a large number of Mac
and PC users that _must_ be able to easily use the final system.

I have a number of questions/queries. Some are directed at Transarc,
others at the wider AFS community:
        - Can I get any sort of AFS support for Macs or PCs (DOS/Windows)?

        - We can probably get NFS for almost all target systems and
use the translator, but authentication is a problem. There
is no way that I can sell them on the idea of logging in to
a unix host to get a token to use from the PC/Mac. Anyone
got any solutions here?? Could we use MIT Kerberos instead,
which (I think?) supports PCs and Macs, but can we use this
          instead of AFS kerberos??

        - What do other big academic sites do?
