If running out of inodes is your problem, you should newfs your news
spool partitions with a higher inode density--I did this when we
upgraded our news server last summer, and we've never had inode shortage
problems. Besides, unless you can find a way to circumvent the
"callback problem" (and address other issues, like subdividing
hierarchies across AFS volumes), moving your news spool into AFS space
will almost certainly be a *lose*, not win.
