I've proposed the creation of an @cell variable that would resolve to
the current cell name (Just like @sys refers to the system type). The
development people aren't sure how widely desired the variable would
be, so I'm posing it to this list.
Do other people think this is something useful? Obviously if you
don't interact with other cells to share scripts and such it's not
going to be all that valuable for you, but for those of us who do such
work across cells...

What we do here (at SAS Institute Inc.) is create a symbolic link at
the cell level that points to the correct cellular mount point. For
example, in the rnd.sas.com cell, our @cell symbolic link points to
rnd.sas.com, and our .@cell symbolic link points to .rnd.sas.com.
Since the link resides on the root.afs volume for the cell, and each
cell has it's own root.afs volume, these links don't conflict between
cells.
Using this, our /usr/local symbolic link is to /afs/@cell/@sys/usr/local,
which means that it can be the same in all of our different cells, and
makes it easier to administrate.
