I am working to set-up AFS backups on an IBM RISC 6000 (model 340) with AIX
3.2.5. I've got an Exabyte 8 mm tape drive model EXB-85058SQANXR0EXB.
Here are the attributes:
mode no Use DEVICE BUFFERS during writes
block_size 0 BLOCK size (0=variable length)
res_support no RESERVE/RELEASE support
var_block_size 0 BLOCK SIZE for variable length support
density_set_1 0 DENSITY setting #1
density_set_2 0 DENSITY setting #2
delay 45 Set delay after a FAILED command
extfm no Use EXTENDED file marks
rwtimeout 144 Set timeout for the READ or WRITE command
Notice that I did not set either density 1(uncompressed) or 2 (compressed), and
also I'm not using extended file marks(which I think may conflict with AFS
EOF's). I need to figure out if this is a good configuration for my AFS backups
and to get the righr numbers from the fms command. So far, fms is running for
3 days(and it's still not over!). Please , if you set-up your tapeconfig file
before on IBM risc 6000 with AIX 3.2.5 and the tape model which is mentioned
above, I'd appreciate any help in building the tapeconfig file for my backups.
Thanks,
Stefano
