I wrote a quick and dirty perl script to handle this (and a bit more)...
it reads a text file which defines which volumes should be replicated and
the locations and ensures that all those volumes are indeed replicated and
up to date (by comparing the dates of the RO and RW volumes and issuing vos
releases as necessary).
I do not claim to be proficient in perl, but it works pretty well; I've
even used it to move volumes between servers by specifying new locations
and a --forcemoves flag. It does not, however, do any sort of balancing of
volumes between servers or partitions but depends on the administrator for
that.
It wouldn't be too hard to have the script access a database instead of a
text file to get the list of replication sites. I've just never had the
time to rewrite it.
It also shouldn't be too hard for anyone to write their own volume
management script(s), but anyone is free to view mine if they want...
