We do this in Emmetsburg with 16 computers in our middle school library and another 20 computers in a lab setting. The library computers are in use constantly throughout the day and the lab computers are used intermittently throughout the day.
I use Thinstation www.thinstation.org as the linux client--easy to set up and use. We did it to make use of our older equipment. It has worked well and our library staff has been very happy with it. I originally left 3 Pentium 4 computers with Windows XP and after a week of using Thinclient the library staff asked me to convert them to it as well. You still have to buy the appropriate licenses, but we are happy at this point and will probably add another server to our elementary building over the summer. If you have other questions, let me know.
