I've gotten this idea lately...

I think America is dying.

It's not Clinton's Fault, though that's not due to a lack of trying.

It's certainly not Bush's fault.

Here's what I think.

I think that a society can only deal with a certain amount of BS before it
literally cannot hold it anymore.

Sure, we need a certain amount of BS to keep us going, who would even have
tried some of our greatest achievements had in not been for BS?

Would Columbus have sailed across the ocean had he had not been full of BS?

Would Ford have built the Model T if he were not full of BS?

Some BS inevitably spills out, and there are always a large number of people
trying to shovel the BS out of the way so that everyone else can get on with
their lives.

If more people are shoveling BS than producing it, society can normally
survive, unless technology changes.

For example...

The printing press spelled the end of one Chinese dynasty. The Radio the end
of another. Those technological changes were essentially BS multipliers. As
one person producing BS used to only be able to throw it at a small crowd at
most. Typically, it only took a few people shoveling to keep the streets
cleared.

With printing presses, the number of people that could be covered in BS went
up dramatically. One person could cover people with BS for hundreds of
miles. However, the number of shovelers went up, and this could be contained
because the spread of BS was contained by the producer's available funds. It
does cost money to print additional copies.

Radio was the next major revolution in BS. With radio, you could cover
hundreds, or even thousands of miles with BS, and after the initial set up
cost, there was little maintenance cost to keep spreading BS. In addition
due to the initial high setup costs, the radio broadcast produced higher
quality BS. Yet, the lack of interactivity meant that no matter how wide
flung the BS was, it could only get so deep.

Eventually, we come to the internet; where one person can spread BS all over
the planet, for a visual reference, click here...

However, with enough shovelers, we could deal with even this level of BS.
But the interactive nature of the internet means that the producers of BS
feel they are in competition with each other, and therefore each must
produce more BS than the other. An example... http://www.liberalforum.org/

Of course, in any culture, there will be those that are capable of out
producing all others, and that are capable of rising to the top. And, there
is a ruling elite of BS producers, one example http://www.michaelmoore.com/

These are people that are able to rise to the top on a literal rocket force
stream of BS.

When this feeding frenzy of BS producers starts, there are not enough
shovelers in the world to keep the streets clean, those some valiantly try.

Unfortunately, despite the efforts of dedicated shovelers, I believe that
our society, on a world wide basis, is reaching a critical mass of BS, our
shoveling system was never intended to cope with the internet. So in the
end, it is inevitable...

All the BS in the world will explode at once.

I pity the survivors
