sendmail: /usr/bin/sendmail
Did you make sure the sendmail binary exists there?
Certain systems have it in /usr/lib/sendmail instead.
/usr/sbin/sendmail should remain as a @symlink to the general *mailwrapper
I have replaced Sendmail with OpenSMTPD on FreeBSD, so I have corrected
mailer.conf as follows:
sendmail /usr/local/sbin/smtpctl
send-mail /usr/local/sbin/smtpctl
mailq /usr/local/sbin/smtpctl
And in imapd.conf:
# sendmail: /usr/lib/sendmail
sendmail: /usr/local/sbin/smtpctl
# notify_external: /usr/sbin/sendmail
notify_external: /usr/local/sbin/smtpctl
